The true impact of fast fashion on our climate

The true impact of fast fashion on our climate

We all hear about the negative impact of fast fashion in the environment. We know that, but do we have a proper idea of the full scope of the problem? Can we actually visualise it? Should we try?

  • Every second, the equivalent of a rubbish truck full of clothes is burnt or buried in a landfill - Ellen MacArthur Fundation
  • The world uses an estimate of 80 billion pieces of clothes every year - The True Cost
  • Textile production contributes more to climate change than international aviation and shipping – combined!  - Environmental Audit Committee
  • The Fashion Industry is responsible for 20% of global waste water - Earth.org
  • 20-35% of all primary source microplastics in the marine environment are from synthetic clothing - EAC report

The way we make, use and discard our clothing is simply unsustainable. Clothing shouldn’t be disposable and we must think about our role in this alarming statistic as well as our options and choices to contribute for a better outcome.

That is why we at Wellicious are so committed in producing and offering a green circular alternative to customers who are also looking on ways to break this destructive cycle.

Our products are Cradle to Cradle Certified, which means that the lifecycle of a product – from design to production through decomposition – is done in such a way that the item can be 100% recycled or upcycled at the end of its life. We have worked for 6 years to create this yoga clothing line so that you can wear our products with a clean conscience. Let’s change the world, step by step!

Join us in our sustainable revolution!

Until next time,

Your Wellicious Team
